Why am I really here? It’s a question we all ask ourselves, often multiple times throughout our lives. We yearn to know the purpose of our life here on this earth.
Head over to the internet! There are thousands of articles written on this topic—How to find your purpose, how to determine your true calling, how to find your passion by taking the passion test.
I’d like to challenge these for a moment.
What if there isn’t just one way? What if there isn’t just one answer?
In the book Big Magic, Elizabeth Gilbert writes a lot about curiosity. She planted some flowers in her home garden and became curious about where they came from, so she started doing some research. That research sparked further curiosity and passion so she took a trip to Europe to visit more gardens. Long story short, that one moment of curiosity led to an epic journey which led to her writing her next best seller, The Signature of All Things, a book which of course centers around the lives of people- and flowers!
Think about how many times you’ve been curious about something. Did you FOLLOW the curiosity? Liz Gilbert could have thought to herself, “Hmmm I wonder where these flowers actually come from? Ah well.” And gotten on with her day.
But she didn’t. Because Liz Gilbert knows that sometimes a spark of curiosity is a whisper from our intuition. Sometimes when we say, “I wonder if…” our intuition is saying, “Go find out!”
Curiosity is a clue to passion.
Passion is a clue to purpose.
All are inextricably linked and it’s our job to connect the dots, to follow the intuitive hits, to just take a chance and see where a question might lead.
There is of course that old, archaic saying that curiosity killed the cat. But for us humans? It’s actually the key to a full, vital, joy-filled life!
What are you curious about? Don’t set it down. Follow the spark. See what you find. You might find you simply learn something you didn’t know before. Or, like Liz Gilbert, you might find that the spark you decided to follow leads you right to the next step in your destiny.

I met Kirsten years ago. Her speech encouraged me to contact her. She is one of the most amazing, positive, encouraging, warm-hearted, well-listening person I have ever met. She is able to uncover your own will and wishes in a way you can’t see on your own. By asking the right questions she is opened my eyes, leading me on my way, which was lying right in front of me but I didn’t see. I am very grateful that she crossed my path and walked a bit with me.
