“Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.” – Henry Ford
We harness the power of the sun and water and wind to keep our planet alive. But it’s the power of the mind that is the real untapped resource.
There’s the concept of “head garbage” that you need to be familiar with. These are the experiences and beliefs from your past that cause you to think and react to each situation differently. You failed at Project A before – that is head garbage that may quietly lurk in your brain as you begin to think about attempting Project B. Cast those thoughts aside repeatedly until they became distant, if not forgotten, memories. Keep in mind that head garbage isn’t necessarily pertaining to us – you may be afraid to do something because “so and so had a friend who tried something similar and failed”….that’s head garbage. Take it to the curb for removal, because this is not their story – it is yours.
Identify what has worked for you in the past. What happened to make that success a reality? Is there anything that you can do now to repeat the patterns and map those habits to your success now? Habits are powerful because they reinforce action. Again, another reason to keep believing in your idea so that you are always silently reinforcing it and willing it to the Universe.
And don’t forget to visualize. I’m not suggesting that you spend a few hours each day checking out and daydreaming, but giving yourself a few minutes in the morning and before bed time to visualize what the future looks like to you, and taking time to actually SEE your success – this is a powerful practice. Does it mean you with certain people, or holding onto an item that you’d like to purchase? Are you in a room speaking to a few hundred people? Whatever idea your success looks like, make a mental image of it and focus on it every day for a few minutes.
