We live in a world that is so connected. It would be near impossible to not find the traces, or clues, of those who have gone before us in their adventure of achieving their life’s goals – goals that are often going to be similar in one way or another to what we hope to achieve.
With this abundance also comes an opportunity to learn from what others have done – both their successes and failures. We are students to these people and should not miss the opportunity to learn from their findings, as well as their mistakes made along the way.
As you move forward in your journey, consider what success means to you and how it relates to what these other individuals have done. I doubt your idea of success is identical to theirs, but what can you identify with?
There are many reasons why looking for these clues is a good idea. First, it will save you time. Time is a price that many of us can’t afford to pay and you have this gift of their experience to avoid that. Second, as you go out on this adventure or journey, you will have limited resources. You don’t want to drain your bank account or resources available to you – not only don’t you want to, but you CANNOT do it. You will become not only financially depleted, but also emotionally. It is essential that you heed these clues.
Learning from others does not mean that this is necessarily an easier path. You will still need to invest time into learning and researching those who have gone before you. This may be in the form of:
- Reading a book, blog, or article
- Watching videos or movies
- Having conversations
This doesn’t make you a copycat by the way. It means you are wise to have taken notice of what was in front of you and made accommodations to your plan, or what needed to be done to reach your goal. No two paths or journeys will ever be the same, but we can walk on the road that others have walked down and still find new things to see.
Just as you will have done this, others will learn from your experience as well!
